Hello to all I am Yanick Adrian Gil, I live in Merida Yucatan Mexico, I am collector of anthuriums, and just beginning to produce them of commercial way for cut flower. (anthurium andreanum) and some mexican spices. I obtein for my self my own varieties by hybridisation, selecting to the best, resistant and esthetic units.


Here is a tropical climate bery hot even + 45º C. this is a good reason to realise very resistant varieties, even realises experiments radiating anthuriums with gamma rays to obtain mutants, the results of these are can appreciate until the first flowering, (one year more) although already some variegates units are appraised.

Your work with Anthurium's sounds interesting.

I grow mostly aroids including:

Amorphophallis,

Typhonium, and Philodendrons.

I have only one Anthurium: A. Gracile.

It is the only one that I have managed not to kill yet.

Hello John the anthurium gracile is a very pretty plant, I know a producer of anthurium, to that wicked bumblebees makes a hibrid of A. gracile with A. andreanum and obtained very nice and interesting plants, was the structure of gracile but the small flower with form and color of the andreanum, even a yellow flowers; she comment me, about Dutch producers arrived and want to take that plant, because here is usual to see Dutch producers providing itself of genetic material, to patent it; recently they have been Chinese acquiring plants for its country.

Yanick, that sounds like a very interesting hybrid. Do you have any photos?

I dont have photos and what is worse I haven’t the plant, they did not give a piece or a plant to me. I have tried to repeat hybridisation without success.

At this moment I obtained a very promising hybrid of A. andreanum x A. clarirervium, I am awaiting its first flowering, structure of clarirervium and flower of andreanum.
